I wrote a report on this in Japanese

So I will just paste it here (^^,)

(Official site here)

at Hiraizumi, Iwate prefecture

This place was listed at the UNESCO World Cultural Heritage

This temple is a bit similar to Chusonji

which I intro that before (see post here)

I prefer the scenery at Chusonji though hahaha

well its good to see more things

learn more and experience more

This is one of my field trip provided by my scholarship association

most of my trip is being sponsored

(I am not that rich as you may think... I am just lucky enough to be sponsored)

Here we go!!

★★★★★

Here is the entrance

there is an entrance fee of 500yen

Lets go in!!

★★★★★

Here I just copy the explanation from the official website

Motsuji was founded by Ennin (Jikaku Daishi)

though most of its structures were not built until the twelfth century

when the second and third Hiraizumi Fujiwara lords, Motohira and Hidehira

brought the temple to prominence.

At its peak, Motsuji was a complex of 40 halls and stupas, and 500 monks' quarters.

The temple is said to have exceeded even Chusonji Temple in size and magnificence.

However, after the fall of the Fujiwara at the close of the twelfth century

several terrible fires reduced every last one of those buildings to ashes.

The only original feature remaining is the Pure Land Garden centered on Oizumi ga Ike Pond.

This outstanding twelfth century garden specimen was almost completely preserved

and has been designated a Special Historic Site and Special Place of Scenic Beauty
by the Japanese government.

The architecture of the new Hondo (Main Hall), completed in 1989
is faithful to the temple's Heian era roots.

★★★★★

After the entrance

here is the map of the whole area

Then here comes the main temple

From here lets enjoy the trees and ponds nature scenery

Hope you all enjoy!

This is a small river

where the poems will gather here every year once

sitting beside the river under a big umbrella

and start to think of something to write

after they wrote the poem

they will start read and put the written poem onto a paper boat

and let it flow through the river

From here

There are lots of pole alike stuff placing all where

It is actually a sign

that at that spot

was "The building" in the past

for example city hall, library, ......

That's all for now

Hope you enjoy the autumn scenery in the Tohoku area!!
